One side of the Savannah tenderiser is smooth for flattening meat and poultry, but can also be used for crushing whole cloves of garlic, coarse salt, breadcrumbs, cracking shellfish. The coarse side has teeth for tenderising meat and can be used gently to infuse foods with seasoning flavours and improve crumbing results. It is also great for crushing nuts. The pounder disc is reversible and easily screws on or off. Pounders are weighted to allow gravity to do most of the work for you.
