Chef’s Complements COVID-19 UPDATE – 13/5/20
The Government has announced New Zealand will move from Alert Level 3 to Alert Level 2 at 11.59 pm on Wednesday 13 May. This means we can now let customers back into our store. We do still ask that you follow all the guidelines set out for level 2 including physical distancing, good hygiene and staying home if you feel sick so that we can operate as safely as possible. The government have advised for customers to spend a limit of 2 hours on a single premise, we know this may be hard for some of you but these are the rules 😉. We will have a contact register in place as well as a hands-free sanitiser dispenser which will be required upon entry. We will still provide click & collect so this is a safe option if you already know what you’re after. We can’t wait to see all our lovely customers back in-store again… from a safe distance.
Chef’s Complements COVID-19 UPDATE – 5/4/20
After further clarification from the government and an increased list of non-food essential services, we applied to be able to operate online only throughout the COVID-19 level 4 lockdown. While our physical store will obviously be closed until the lockdown level reduces, we can now operate the online sector of our business for essential items. Please contact us if you are unsure regarding the item you are purchasing. All food items, i.e. icing, gels, ingredients will not be shipped. All barware and glassware will not be shipped.
We want to assure our customers, and the concerned public that we completely understand the severity of this global pandemic and how it is affecting New Zealand and we would never operate if we believed there was a chance of spreading this virus. You can rest assured that all staff members are at home safe and no members of our team will be required to come into work for Chef’s Complements to be able to operate.
Being a family-run business, we are able to safely self-isolate together at home, travel to work and be in complete isolation there also. We have already completed almost 3 weeks of complete isolation following an overseas business trip. Only the owners, Andy & Vicki will be going into work to complete your online orders. This is the beauty of having a family operated, locally owned business.
We have non-contact procedures in place with our courier which will eliminate any risk of transmission. We use Aramex, formerly Fastways who are an essential service during this lockdown period.

While packing orders, we will be wearing gloves throughout the whole picking and packing process. Every item possible that we send out will be wiped down or cleaned appropriately and where possible, we will be using stock from the storeroom. Our store has been closed for almost 2 weeks now so all products have had no human contact throughout this period.
The health and safety of our customers, employees and the entire country are of utmost importance to us at this time and we remain committed to abiding by the Government guidelines while we fulfil your essential orders. Your wellbeing is also very important throughout these times and we believe cooking and baking are great for your mental health so we want to be able to enable you to do this.
Please place your orders as you normally would online and we will ensure to meet all procedures and health guidelines set for every order. Please note that courier runs may not be as frequent throughout this time so there could be added delays. We have temporarily lowered our free shipping rate across New Zealand from $150 to $100 as well as adding a lower locals rate of $4 to help our loyal and supportive Taupo residents.
All orders placed throughout this lockdown are very, very much appreciated as you are enabling us to pay all our ongoing bills which can’t be stopped and help us and our team get through this lockdown.
