The German word ‘Messermeister’ translates to ‘Knife Master’, and this brand has truly mastered the art of knife making. Founder Bernd Dressler can claim great innovations such as the first bolsterless heel, the first truly cambered chef’s knife and the sharpest polished edge angle. At the same time, Messermeister remains one of the few companies in the world to produce hot-drop, hammer-forged knives the traditional way.
The history of Messermeister knives begins with Bernd’s passion for premium German cutlery. After having worked as a salesperson for a large German knife company, Bernd founded Messermeister in 1981 with his wife Debbie. They began to design and manufacture vintage, handcrafted, forged German cutlery, and by 1995 the brand expanded internationally. After nearly 4 decades, Messermeister are now proud to be a 100% woman-owned company, with Debra, Chelcea and Kirsten Dressler continuing Bernd’s mission.
Here at Chef’s Complements, we carry a range of Messermeister knives and culinary tools such as grapefruit knives, melon ballers, plating tweezers and scissors. Accessories include Messermeister knife guards, water stones and knife sharpeners.
