Founded in 1810 by furniture maker John Wade, the company initially produced items for the textile and wool industries, as well as bottles for Staffordshire breweries. Over time, several Wade family ventures, including Wade & Myatt, John Wade & Co, and J&W Wade, merged to form Wade Potteries Limited in 1958.
Wade Ceramics has long been celebrated for its craftsmanship, producing jugs, vases, bowls, teapots, cheese dishes, nursery ware, and more. In the 1920s and 30s, the brand introduced stunning Art Deco figurines, followed by comical nursery rhyme characters, animals, and birds that captured the hearts of collectors and the public alike. In 2023, Wade was acquired by Europe’s leading appliance distributor RKW, with a commitment to keeping the brand local and restoring its iconic status.
