GreenPan Padova Quick Tips
- Do not burn oil, butter, or fats – burnt oil will cause sticking and damage the coating
- Preheat for a few seconds before cooking and use low to moderate heat settings
- Use oil or butter, but avoid cooking sprays which can harm the non-stick coating
- Wash with a soft sponge, even if the pan is dishwasher safe
- Avoid scrubber sponges, nylon brushes, abrasive detergents, and cooking sprays
- Use silicone or wooden utensils to extend the life of your coating
Cooking with GreenPan
- Low to medium heat is best
GreenPan’s patented Thermolon™ ceramic nonstick coating distributes heat more efficiently than traditional coatings. Your pan heats quickly and evenly, so high heat is rarely needed. Cooking on low to medium heat helps prevent overheating while still allowing excellent searing and browning.
- Use silicone or wooden utensils
Softer utensils such as silicone and wood are gentler on the cooking surface and help reduce wear on the ceramic coating. Avoid metal utensils where possible to extend the life of your pan.
- Cook with oil or butter
Oil or butter improves flavour and helps distribute heat evenly across the pan. For higher heat cooking, use oils with a high smoke point. Avoid aerosol spray oils, as their propellants can build up on the surface and damage ceramic nonstick coatings over time.
Cleaning and maintenance
- Everyday cleaning
Clean your pan using warm soapy water and a soft sponge or brush. GreenPan Padova cookware is dishwasher safe, however hand washing is recommended to help preserve the nonstick coating. Avoid abrasive detergents, steel wool or harsh scouring pads.
- Allow cookware to cool
Always allow your pan to cool before washing. Sudden temperature changes can cause thermal shock, which may warp cookware or damage glass lids.
- Safe storage
When stacking cookware, use pan protectors or a soft cloth between pieces to prevent scratches and surface damage.
Removing sticky residue
- What causes carbonisation?
Sticky or darkened spots can appear when oils are overheated and baked onto the surface. This process, known as carbonisation, can reduce nonstick performance but is easy to remove.
- Deep cleaning the interior
Fill the pan halfway with water and heat until it is nearly boiling for approximately 2 minutes. Carefully discard the water and place the pan on a stable surface such as a wooden board. While the surface is warm, gently clean using a melamine sponge to lift residue.
- Cleaning the exterior
For exterior stains, mix baking soda with a small amount of water to create a paste. Apply with a soft cloth or soft bristled brush, then rinse with white vinegar before washing and drying as usual.
