Power meets precision in this heirloom-quality tortilla press.

Developed in collaboration with acclaimed chef Santiago Lastra of KOL restaurant in London, the Netherton Foundry Black Iron Tortilla Press is built for both authenticity and durability. Inspired by traditional Mexican cooking and refined through British craftsmanship, this press delivers consistently thin, round tortillas up to 24 cm in diameter—ideal for tacos, tostadas or quesadillas made from scratch.

Santiago and his brother Eduardo turned to Netherton when seeking a restaurant-grade press that could endure daily use while reflecting the same attention to detail and beauty found in KOL’s kitchen. The result is a striking combination of function and form: pre-seasoned black iron plates paired with handmade British oak handles and elegant brass fittings. Whether you’re cooking for a crowd or mastering masa at home, this press makes tortilla-making a pleasure.

Features:

  • Consistently presses tortillas up to 24 cm across
  • Made from 99.1% pure pre-seasoned black iron
  • Heavy-duty lever handle delivers excellent pressing force
  • Oak top knob and handles are handmade in Britain
  • Finished with polished brass fittings
  • Built to withstand frequent use in professional or home kitchens
  • No synthetic coatings, just natural flax oil seasoning

Specifications:

  • Weight: 4.97 kg
  • Plate diameter: 25.5 cm
  • Total length with handle: 34 cm

Tired of flimsy presses that never quite get the job done? This beautifully engineered press brings authenticity, strength, and style to your tortilla game.

Care:

  • After each use, wipe the plates clean with a dry cloth or paper towel. If necessary, use a lightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly straight away.
  • Do not use soap or soak in water, as this may remove the flax oil seasoning.
  • If the surface looks dry or dull, apply a thin coat of flax or vegetable oil to maintain the natural non-stick layer.
  • Store in a dry place to prevent rust.

With regular use and simple care, your press will improve over time.

Netherton Foundry is a proudly family-owned business in the heart of South Shropshire, once known as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Where smokestacks once dominated the skyline, today there is a gentler rhythm to life, but the legacy of innovation remains.

Drawing deep inspiration from Shropshire’s iron masters of the 18th and 19th centuries, especially Abraham Darby, the pioneer behind the world’s first iron bridge, Netherton Foundry blends traditional craftsmanship with a modern environmental conscience. Their work reimagines the spirit of that extraordinary era, honouring its ingenuity while being mindful of the environmental lessons it left behind.

Each product is a celebration of heritage, quality, and sustainability, reflecting a time when things were made to last and made with care.
