This covered roaster is ideally suited for use in the oven. However, the flat base of the roaster makes it equally at home on the stovetop.
The thick enamel coating on this covered roaster provides a solid, smooth and healthy cooking surface, which is easy to clean and ensures great cooking results. The advantage of the enamel coating is that you can apply high heat, which is retained in the metal, creating heat efficiency and allowing for effective searing of meats.
This covered roaster’s lid and base have the same cooking properties and can be used separately in the oven, as open roasters if desired. The lid has self-basting ridges that keep food moist by allowing the condensation during the cooking process to reform into juices on the ridges and drip back onto the cooking food.
The off-centre handles on the lid and the base have three main purposes
- They make it easy to grip both parts of the roaster securely
- They make it simple to get the roaster in and out of the oven
- They restrict the size of the roaster so it fits in smaller ovens and is easier to store when not in use
