Grandma’s Hands are Ironclad’s range of New Zealand-made oven mitts.
Designed by Ironclad and hand-made by some of our friends in Wellington, Grandma’s Hands are 100% cotton and made to last. The cotton lining used is a natural unbleached and undyed Cotton Duck. Duck fabric is made by weaving two yarns together in the warp and a single yarn in the weft. It’s a great material as it’s very comfy, long-lasting, and durable. Inside, the thick quilt lining makes them well-insulated and soft to wear.
On the outside, there are two fabric options.
Bull Denim is 100% cotton and is constructed with a 3×1 twill, creating a soft durable material that will hold up to everyday use.
Black Cotton Drill is 100% cotton and is a stout durable fabric with a strong bias (diagonal) in the weave.
Grandma’s Hands are hand-made in small runs right here in New Zealand. So if you miss out on this release, don’t worry. Just let us know you’d like one and we’ll get sewing!

The Ironclad Pan Company was founded in 2016 by Kate Slavin, Levi Slavin and Joe Carter. All three were working in design, branding and communications, and all three were looking to create a sustainable product that would be a return to beautiful craft and traditional techniques. In an era of disposable products, the team wanted to create a meaningful object that people only had to buy once. Something precious, that could be handed down for generations.
