Keep your Delivita oven performing at its best with a simple regular care routine.
Regular Cleaning
- Allow the oven to cool completely before cleaning, usually around 2.5 hours after use
- Remove leftover ash with a metal brush and a metal container
- Wipe the stainless steel front with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth
- Use a dry cloth with a small amount of cooking oil to polish away streaks
- Avoid abrasive cloths or harsh cleaners that may scratch the surface
- Clean the oven after every use to prevent grease and grime build-up
Deep Cleaning & Maintenance
- Perform a deep clean every few months, especially before long-term storage
- Inspect the oven inside and out for scratches, cracks, or damage
- Minor scratches on the exterior can be polished with a car paint restorer
- Small cracks in the clay interior are normal and can be repaired with fire-resistant clay putty or fire cement
- Lightly spray cracked areas with water before applying repair putty
Protecting Your Oven
- Always use a cover when the oven is not in use
- Store the oven in a dry, sheltered area such as a garage or shed whenever possible
- Avoid leaving the oven exposed to extreme heat, cold, or rain
- If the clay interior becomes wet, cure the oven by burning a softwood fire for at least 1 hour before cooking
Best Cooking Practices
- Use quality hardwoods such as oak or beech
- Only use dry wood with less than 15% moisture content
- Do not burn bark or overload the oven with wood
- Start the fire in the centre, then move it to the back after 20 to 25 minutes
- Use one piece of wood at a time for consistent heat control
Storage Tips
- Deep clean the oven before storing it for long periods
- Ensure the oven is dry before covering or storing
- Re-heat the oven before first use after winter storage
With regular cleaning, proper storage, and occasional maintenance, your Delivita oven will continue delivering exceptional wood-fired cooking for years to come.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR DELIVITA OVEN
- Find out how to keep your new DeliVita wood-fired oven in tip-top condition so you can continue to bake, roast, or smoke outdoors for years to come!
- It is not necessary to clean the inside of the oven with cleaning products because the high temperatures will kill any germs and bacteria. Any food spillages will simply be burnt to ashes, which you can sweep out later when cold.
- After each use or when ash has built up too much, allow the ash to cool, then sweep it out of the oven with a metal brush into a suitable metal container. Afterwards, the cooled ash can be used as a fertiliser for the garden. Never throw water into the oven, as this could damage the interior components.
- After use, while the oven is still warm, clean the stainless steel front panel with warm, soapy water and a clean cloth. Avoid using abrasive products and metal scouring pads.
- For a perfect finish on the fibreglass exterior, use a damp cloth with warm, soapy water. For deeper scratches, we recommend using a wet and dry cloth or T-cut from your local car accessory store.
