Striking style, natural durability.

The Teakhaus Herringbone Cutting Board 51cm combines the natural beauty of sustainable teakwood with a distinctive herringbone pattern and versatile functionality. Generously sized for food preparation and entertaining, this handcrafted board provides a sturdy, knife-friendly surface for chopping, slicing and serving.

Teak is known as the royal wood for its exceptional durability, stability and naturally high oil content. This helps create a moisture-resistant surface, while its medium hardness provides a luxurious cutting experience that is gentle on your knives. Over time, the teak naturally develops a deeper, rich golden hue, giving each board even more character.

Designed for both preparation and presentation, the reversible board features a hand grip and tablet slot on one side, while the other features a smart juice canal to help catch liquids during preparation. Its striking herringbone pattern makes it equally suited to serving food at the table, from appetisers and grazing boards to shared dishes.

Teakhaus uses teakwood sourced from sustainable forests and operates a zero-waste production process designed to minimise environmental impact. Each board is FSC® certified, supporting responsible forestry, biodiversity and local communities.

Teakhaus boards are pre-oiled using a mixture of mineral oil and natural beeswax to coat and come ready to use! Before first use, wash, rinse, and dry with a kitchen towel.

Keep your Teakhaus cutting board sanitized by simply washing it! Wash your cutting board after every use.

  1. Hand wash with hot, soapy water after each use.
  2. Rinse.
  3. Dry it with a kitchen towel, or better yet, let it air dry.
  4. Store it only when it is completely dry or display it on the counter.
  5. Do not put it in a dishwasher and do not soak it in water.
  6. Wood is a natural material and tends to expand and contract. Too much moisture can cause cracks and splits. We recommend you don’t store the board until it is completely dry.

How to remove odours & stains?

A teak cutting board rarely absorbs odours or stains. Yet, it can happen! Only three natural ingredients are needed to remove odours or stains: lemon, salt, and baking soda.

  1. Cut a lemon and rub it on the cutting board.
  2. Sprinkle the board generously with kosher or table salt, or baking soda (the salt or baking soda will absorb any odors, flavors, and stains).
  3. Build a paste over the board by rubbing the lemon and squeezing the juice.
  4. Let it dry for a few hours.
  5. Remove the dry paste with a spatula or your hands.
  6. Wash, rinse, and dry the board, and be sure to oil it afterward.

How to oil your cutting board

Teak’s naturally high oil content acts as a water repellent; this oil will keep your board hydrated for longer periods of time. Oiling twice a month will keep your board healthy.

  1. You can use your favourite mineral oil or seasoning stick
  2. Let the oil absorb for at least six hours; for better results, let it sit overnight.
  3. Wipe off any remaining oil using a dry, clean cloth.
  4. Do not let your board become dry; lack of oiling can result in cracks, warps, or splits.
  5. AVOID using any cooking oil (olive oil, canola oil, etc.). These oils can become rancid.

Oiling your board increases the board’s life to a lifetime, avoids cracks or splits, brings life the fabulous colours, and keeps it safe from any bacteria.

My board is showing knife marks

It is perfectly normal! Teakwood is a medium-hardwood. The hardness of wood is related to durability and stability. Teak’s hardness is not too soft to provide a luxurious cutting experience and not too hard to keep your knives sharp. You can’t avoid knife marks, but you can repair them once in a while. We recommend sanding your cutting board when the marks are deep.

You could start with medium-coarse grit sandpaper (100) and finish with fine-coarse grit, wash, and oil your board, and it will look new again.
