After constant use, the wax on beeswax wraps will naturally wear off. In order to keep them smooth and fresh, wax can be reapplied using Karlstert Natural Beeswax Wrap Rejuvenation Beeswax.
What is it made up of?
The block is made of all-natural ingredients. It is premixed with 100% natural beeswax, organic coconut oil, natural pine resin and natural jojoba oil.
How to use the rejuvenation blocks:
Method 1: Iron
- Preheat an iron to medium temperature
- On a flat surface or ironing board place a sheet of baking paper and place the wrap or cotton fabric on top
- With a grater, grate a portion of the block into flakes and evenly spread over the fabric and cover with a second sheet of baking paper
- With the preheated iron, gently press down all over. This will melt the wax and spread it in all directions. There will be some excessive wax running at the edge, which is normal.
Method 2: Oven
- Preheat oven to 80°C before beginning the process
- Cover an oven tray with baking paper and place the wrap or cotton fabric on top
- With a grater, grate a portion of the block into flakes and evenly spread over the fabric
- Bake for 5 minutes keeping an eye on your wrap to ensure the wax has melted but isn’t getting too hot
- Remove tray from oven and using a brush, distribute the newly-melted blend evenly across the surface of your wrap.
There is no need to turn the war over as the blend will melt through the fabric, effectively waxing both sides. Using tongs, remove baking paper before it cools and hang to set.
Caution
Wax liquefies at about 80°C and can cause burns. Handle with care using oven gloves or tongs.
Caring for your beeswax block
Store the unused portion of the beeswax block in its packaging in a cool dry place, preferably away from sunlight.
