The Staub Chistera Saute Pan takes its name from the popular sport played in the gastronomically renowned Basque region. The nodules on the underneath of the lid are shaped like the racket used in Chistera. During cooking, these nodules collect moisture that drips back evenly into the food, giving a deliciously, succulent result, intensifying flavours and retaining the aromas and vitamins within the food. Staub Cast Iron is made in France using a sand mould that is destroyed after each piece is made, meaning every Staub piece is totally unique.
The interior of the Staub’s Chistera Saute Pan features a black matte enamel finish that requires little seasoning over time and is more resistant to scratches and chips while the exterior is enamelled. Enamel cast iron is a traditionally strong material, ideal for low heat cooking, it retains heat better than any other material, equal heat distribution eliminates hot spots. The smooth bottom is suitable for use on any cooking surface, (including induction) without scratching the surface of your cooktop.
The self-basting system consisting of distributed nodules over the whole inside flat lid ensures a continuous rainfall over the food inside the pan keeping the food moist whilst cooking. The Staub self-basting system in the lid is 9 times more effective than conventional lids.
