You can roast lamb, chicken and beef. At the same time, Staub cast iron Cocottes – also known as casseroles – are an all-rounder: from a good risotto to baking bread. The special lids lock in moisture, ensuring the food is basted evenly and continuously to create the most delicious dishes. During cooking, these nodules collect moisture that drips back evenly into the food, giving a deliciously, succulent result, intensifying flavours and retaining the aromas and vitamins within the food. The Staub self-basting system in the lid is 9 times more effective than conventional lids.

Thanks to its material – cast iron which is ideal for low heat cooking,  – the Cocotte – Dutch oven retains heat or cold for a very long time and offers an equal heat distribution eliminating hot spots. Care Instructions for your Staub Cocotte:

  • Dishwasher safe, however, hand washing is recommended. Soak in warm water with a small amount of dishwashing liquid to remove stubborn residue.
  • Do not heat cast iron rapidly, low to medium heat is required only.
  • Recommended for use with wooden or plastic utensils only to avoid damage to the enamel coating. Avoid Metal utensils.
  • Staub cast iron cookware can be easily cleaned with any common washing-up liquid and water once it’s cooled down.
  • Do not use any scouring agents or abrasive sponges to clean your cast iron product.
  • To remove stubborn dirt we recommend that you soak your cookware, e.g. your cocotte, in warm water with a little washing-up liquid or baking soda until all of the residues can be removed.
  • The cast-iron pot or pan should be dried completely.
