A Unique Tool for Open Fire Cooking.
The Netherton Foundry Black Iron Open Fire Egg Spoon is a handcrafted, multi-purpose cooking tool designed for preparing simple meals over open flames, gas burners or the stovetop. Made in Shropshire, England from durable spun black iron, it is perfect for cooking a single egg, while also serving as a practical ladle and spatula for everyday cooking.
The generously sized spun iron bowl makes it easy to stir, scoop, lift and serve from woks, frying pans, saucepans and casseroles. Naturally pre-seasoned with organic flax oil, it develops an increasingly non-stick patina with use, while offering outstanding performance at high cooking temperatures.
Free from PTFE, PFAS and chemical coatings, the Open Fire Egg Spoon is built from 99.1% pure iron and finished with traditional hand assembly and a signature Netherton Foundry brass rivet. Combining craftsmanship, durability and versatility, it is a unique addition to any kitchen or outdoor cooking setup.

Use & Care:
- Wash by hand with warm water and a soft brush or cloth
- Avoid detergents where possible to preserve the seasoning
- Dry thoroughly after washing to prevent moisture damage
- Lightly oil after drying to maintain the protective surface
- Do not leave to soak or air dry
- Re-season as needed using a thin coat of flax or cooking oil
- With regular use, the natural non-stick surface will continue to improve over time
Jute Handle Care:
- Keep the jute handle away from direct flames. The long handle is designed to keep your hands clear of the heat, but the tool should not be left resting in the fire or over burning coals.
- If the metal begins to glow red hot, excessive heat may affect the temper of the iron and can scorch or burn the jute wrapping.
- The organic jute cord is durable and remains strong when wet, but it should be allowed to dry thoroughly before storing the utensil.
- Store the utensil in a dry place using the hanging loop where possible.
